The name Folded Wing was inspired by the story ‘Jonathan Livingstone Seagull’, an inspirational fable by Richard Bach. Seized by a passion to learn to fly faster, Jonathan Livingstone becomes frustrated with the conformity of Seagull life where doing things differently is frowned upon, and ends up outcast from his flock. Whilst in exile, Jonathan learns to fly faster all by himself by folding his wings in imitation of the falcon. Jonathan then returns to his old flock and teaches them all how to fly higher and faster.
As a great believer in the sharing and spreading of knowledge and passion, and as a keen nurturer of young talent, Karen P (Folded Wing's Director) felt that the Folded Wing concept was too apt to ignore when naming the company.
